Moanday

Ah yes yes yall, the weekend is over and the fun begins once again. Friday afternoon fearless leader gets a call from the lawyer informing him that another store was getting raided. The store Phunky Stuff, carried, gift, novelties, black lights, posters, incense, cigarette papers, flavored bidis, some regular CD's, and Mix CD's. A customer came in and said he was just going to pick up a new pipe, but when he saw the police outside, and the boxes coming out, he kept on going. From what I understand, they also hit a music store called Sams. They carry regular cds, t-shirts,posters,etc and mix cds. It seems as if the authorities are making a grand tour of the state and hitting everybody. One of our employees said fearless leader was happy because he's not alone anymore. I wonder what folks are going to do now that those spots are shut down, I guess they'll have to hit up that guy on the corner w the truck. It's always a good thing when a customer comes in and says, "Nah I only buy mix cds, don't want the full length" Fearless leader blames the lack of cd singles for the popularity of mix cds.
Gotta love walking in here Monday morning. I get to see what posters fearless leader took down and put up. Wow he let the Mike Jones poster fall in front of the huge Faith Evans light box, nice. Then there's the always exciting game of "find the weekend faxes" Oh look here underneath these used records with no jackets and sleeves, the latest Fat Beats fax, yaaay 15 points! Thank the deities for e-mails.

Sams got hit? damn... used to go to that place ALL the time. prices were low (too low to be legal, you know...) and they could get stuff that NOBODY else could get. (Merciless - The Awakening on vinyl... only 500 printed in the first print... )

is it osama or usama? can i get a ruling on this? when we KFC'd his name we went with UBL - you never hear OBL (sounds like a female product for Heavy Flow days)...

so my question about all of these raids is this... are these coming in because of the riaa being tipped off? are these stores that report to soundscan? if not then you can start the consiracy wagon upand i'll jump on... corprate bitches...

and yes... i know who the riaa worksfor, but who'staxpayer money is footing the bill for the POLICE raids? does the riaa rent cops for the raids, or do they get a tip and then they inform the police of illegal activity and accompany the police on the raid? you know that the riaa reps are there during the raid making sure that the right merch is snatched up... yer average cop wouldn't know what he's looking for.

julie says, "hello papa."

quick correction, jury still out over Sams getting raided....one person said yes yet some folks came in today and said they were able to purchase stuff on Saturday. Regarding tipped off, I know the RIAA does offer a reward via a tip line...but when I read the warrant that was presented at our store, it did mention that people were sent into our store on different occaisions to purchase mix cds. So some undercover work was done. Our stores are soundscan not sure about Sams. Phunky Stuff aint.
Oh yeah the RIAA personel were definately in the house during the raids. From what I've read and heard they train the local authorities as to what to look for. But they still are there to supervise the confiscation.
So to answer a question, I guess the taxpayers money is invested in these operations, considering they are taking officers/detectives away from current cases.
These raids may be part of their new aggressive stance as mentioned here Oh well I gotta go make Ice Cream for the niece, sheesh when does school start back up again...
